Georgian Greenways Nominated for the 12th European Greenways Award 2025! 🌿
We are proud to announce that Georgian Greenways have been officially nominated for the 12th edition of the European Greenways Award 2025, organized by the European Greenways Association (EGWA) in cooperation with Basquetour, the Fundación de los Ferrocarriles Españoles, and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia (Basque Country, Spain).
This prestigious biennial award celebrates best practices in greenway development and sustainable tourism across Europe. The 2025 edition received 33 candidacies from 13 countries, reflecting a growing commitment to environmentally friendly routes and responsible travel initiatives.
The winners will be announced during the official award ceremony on October 9th, 2025, in Abanto-Zierbena, Bizkaia Province, just 20 minutes from Bilbao. The event will be followed by an international conference and a technical visit to one of the region’s beautiful greenways on October 10th, aiming to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration among European greenway stakeholders.
We are delighted that Georgian Greenways are part of this important European initiative, highlighting Georgia’s efforts in sustainable tourism development, community engagement, and environmental protection.
This recognition demonstrates that our country is increasingly becoming part of the European green transition movement, promoting routes that combine nature, culture, and local development opportunities.
